In a colossal cycling challenge along the Suffolk coast, determined fundraisers raked in £7,875 for three regional mental health charities.

Thirty cyclists journeyed 94 miles across East Anglia's scenic coastline on an undertaking dubbed the 'Three Counties, Seven Piers' on Sunday, June 9.

Their demanding route initiated at Great Yarmouth, ended in Clacton-on-Sea and included stops at seven significant piers.

This included Southwold Pier and Felixstowe Pier in Suffolk.

The raised funds will be channelled towards sustaining essential services offered by Suffolk Mind.

The pivotal challenge event was a collaborative effort organised by Mid and North East Essex Mind and Norfolk and Waveney Mind.

Jon Neal, chief executive of Suffolk Mind, shared his excitement about the collaboration and voiced his respect for the participating cyclists.

He said: “It’s fantastic to be partnering with both Mid and North East Essex Mind and Norfolk and Waveney Mind on a fundraising challenge we could all get excited about.

“I have great admiration for the cyclists who have taken part – and it really is a big challenge, even if you're fit and used to cycling a lot.

“Thank you to our sponsors and to everyone who has been raising money for the three local Minds, which will undoubtedly help support people across Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk.”

Damian Nunn, managing director of partners Pitkin & Ruddock participated in the event.

He called it a "great experience", praising the dual benefits of raising money for a crucial cause and getting fit.
