A driver from Elmswell will pay out £750 after being caught driving 90 miles an hour on the A14.
The case of Richard Sutton, of Little Green in Elmswell, near Bury St Edmunds, was heard before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich.
The 44-year-old had been driving a Volkswagen Transporter van along the A14 at Barham, north of Ipswich, on May 13 last year when he was caught by a speeding camera driving at 90 miles per hour.
With his vehicle being classed as a goods vehicle, Sutton should have been driving at a maximum speed of 60 miles per hour.
This offence was classed as a “high speeder”, meaning that it was too fast for a fixed penalty to be issued.
Sutton pleaded guilty to the offence of speeding, and was fined £461.
He was ordered to pay court costs of £110, and a surcharge which goes towards victim services of £184. This brought the total Sutton will have to pay to £755.
His licence was also endorsed with five penalty points.
