An experienced publican is part of the team which is set to reopen a town centre pub this week.

The Gainsborough in King Street, Sudbury, will open to drinkers again on Thursday, having been closed for a number of months.

James Langan will oversee the pub as general manager, alongside running The Station Hotel and The Falcon pubs in Ipswich.

Teri Milburn will be in the pub on a day-to-day basis, accompanied by her dachshund Douglas, as manager.

Mr Langan said: "I saw the opportunity to venture to a third pub, so we thought we would come down to Sudbury and give it a go.

"We are going to open the pub, get some decent ales on, do some classic pub grub stuff and concentrate on the garden."

There will be a new look staff at the pub, which is set to reopen its doors on Thursday.

It will initially open for two, three-hour sittings on its opening day before opening from midday until 11pm each day.

Mr Langan added: "We are going to see what the town centre needs in terms of do they want music in the venue? Do they want more roast dinners?

"All the other pubs I have run, we listen to what the customers are saying then try and accommodate to that as near as possible."

It will be Teri's first time managing a pub, having worked in another pub run by Mr Langan for about a year.

"I am looking to open it with a fresh face and see who comes in," she said.

"We have installed a brand new coffee machine so we are hoping to do coffee days and things like that.

"I'm really excited to get the doors open and see where it goes."
