A yellow heat health alert has been issued for most of the England, including Suffolk. 

The alert, issued by the UK Health Security Agency and Met Office, will come into force from 8am on Monday and remains in place until 5pm on Thursday.

With a chance that parts of the county could reach the heatwave threshold of 25c over three consecutive days, the warning highlights the threat of increased deaths among older and vulnerable people.

This includes an "observed increase in mortality across the population likely, particularly in the 65+ age group or those with health conditions, but impacts may also be seen in younger age groups". 

The alert also notes that an increased demand for remote healthcare services is "likely" and the internal temperatures in care settings, including hospitals and care homes, could exceed the recommended threshold for clinical risk assessment.
