Drivers will be left facing a 26-mile diversion while a village road is closed.
Park Road in Boxted, near Glemsford, will be closed on Sunday to allow Openreach to carry out essential works.
According to the Suffolk County Council website, the official diversion route is 26 miles.
The diversion route includes A roads because some vehicles like HGVs cannot go down smaller roads that others would use as shortcuts.
The road, which connects the village to Glemsford, will be closed from 8am to 4pm on Sunday.
