Weddings at a historic town venue are to come an end later this year after it was put up for sale.

Priory Hall in Benton Street, Hadleigh, has been put on the market with Strutt & Parker with a guide price of £3.5million.

Owned by Cyndy and Anthony Hilton, the pair have operated the 22-acre site as a wedding venue.

"Our weddings will stop this year. Our last one is November 2," said Mrs Hilton.

When asked what the pair planned to do next, Mrs Hilton said: "I think moving on. I have done it for a very long time. There is a time to move on and do new things.

She added "it is up to new owners" if they would continue it as a wedding business.

The 16th century hall consists of seven bedrooms and six bathrooms, an indoor swimming pool, a wedding pavilion, a tennis court and separate one-bedroom cottage.

It is described as a "rare find" due to its proximity to the town centre.
