A pair of Bury St Edmunds primary school children have been praised for spending their summer holiday picking litter in their community.
Julie Skilton, of Darcy Close in Moreton Hall, is the proud grandmother of eco-conscious pair Jessica, 9, and Oliver, 6.
While on summer holiday from Abbots Green Primary School, Jessica and Oliver took it upon themselves to clear up rubbish in woodland behind the DFS store on the estate, which they came across while on a walk.
Ms Skilton said: "It is something they have been doing on and off for a while now, we applied to the council on the scheme where they could have their own litter picks and hoops and bags.
"This time we'd been for a walk through the woods and they said 'shall we go back and pick it all up' and I said 'well come on then.'"
Ms Skilton, who is the mother of Jessica and Oliver's mum, said the pair spent over an hour tidying the area and ended up picking up a bag of recycling and a separate bag of general waste rubbish.
"I was quite overwhelmed at how they got on with it - they were determined to get it all picked up," she said.
Some of the items Jessica and Oliver picked from the woodland included water bottles, milk bottles, cans, sweet wrappers and sandwich wrappers.
Ms Skilton said: "We've always pointed out to them that we need to look after our planet. We, and they, would never throw litter on the ground. They find it absolutely abhorrent."
