Hot weather for the summer is returning to Suffolk this week but warnings for high temperatures will be in place. 

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and The Met Office issued a yellow heat health warning from 9am on Sunday, August 11 until 9am on Wednesday, August 14.

Parts of the East of England, including Suffolk, are expected to reach temperatures higher than the 25C threshold across three consecutive days. 

Here is a day by day forecast for Suffolk this week. 

Sunday

On the first day of the heat warning, temperatures are expected to reach highs of 27C in west Suffolk towns like Bury St Edmunds. 

The coast will be significantly cooler with temperatures reaching 23C in Southwold. 

The weather is expected to be sunshine for most of the day with a little bit of cloud in some areas.

Monday

Monday will be the hottest day of the week with plenty of sunshine.

Ipswich is forecast to reach 30C around 4pm while other parts of Suffolk could see even higher temperatures with 33C predicted for Newmarket.

Tuesday

It will feel slightly cooler as temperatures across the county drop back down below 30C but remain above the 25C threshold for a health alert.

The weather will be sunshine and clouds with the heat health alert ending at 9am.

Wednesday

The weather forecast is expected to remain the same as Tuesday. 

In Sudbury temperatures could be as high as 27C with similar temperatures forecast for Lowestoft and Beccles. 

Thursday to Saturday

The end of the week will still remain sunny with some cloud but temperatures are expected to be significantly cooler than the start of the week.

On Saturday the average highest temperature forecast for the county is 21C with lows of 15C in the evening.
