ORGANISERS of a new fundraising car show with an iconic Suffolk backdrop are urging car lovers, families and charity supporters to join them this weekend.

The inaugural Sports and Classic Cars by the Bridge event, taking place at Suffolk Food Hall on Monday 26 August, will feature close to 250 supercars, classic vehicles – and plenty of entertainment.

Raising money for Cancer Support Suffolk, the day will also include music from Suffolk Sounds, a funfair, chances to win prints signed by Max Verstappen and Valentino Rossi and the opportunity to meet members of the emergency service teams.

Mark Murphy, CEO of Cancer Support Suffolk, said: “This is an amazing opportunity for all car fanatics to come together and share their love of four wheels.

“It really will be a day of ‘something for everyone’. You’ll be able to see classic cars, top of the range supercars, and everything in between.”

Mark will be joined at the event by his team from the cancer charity.

“An event like this allows us to chat to more people and really reiterate what it is that we can do to support anyone going through cancer, or supporting a loved one.

“On top of which, the event itself will be raising funds to enable us to further our work and reach even more people.”

Director Oliver Paul is thrilled that the Suffolk Food Hall is the venue.

He said: “The Food Hall is a very fitting location and we’re utterly delighted to be supporting this worthy charity.

"Sadly, cancer will, in some way and at some stage, affect us all.

Craig Ranson, managing director of main sponsor Bridge Classic Cars, said: “Almost all of us today have been affected by cancer in one way or another.

“I have experienced close family members, work colleagues, friends who have all gone through the cancer journey and too many of them are not here to tell the story.

“We are immensely proud to be supporting Cancer Support Suffolk on this amazing day of classic cars.”

The organisers say they are very aware of the cost-of-living crisis and are keeping prices as low as possible.

Visitors pay just £4 before the day and £5 on the day, with children 16 and under going free. Activities start at 11am.
