Drivers are being warned of delays as part of the A12 will be closed overnight multiple times this month.

National Highways say commuters should allow extra time for their journeys due to closures on both the northbound and southbound carriageways between Junction 25 Marks Tey and Junction 26 Stanway in September.

Firstly, the northbound carriageway will close from 8pm to 6am every night between September 8 and September 10.

This will affect drivers heading from London and South Essex to Suffolk.

A diversion route will be in place along the exit slipway at junction 25 Marks Tey, B1408 London Road, rejoining the A12 at Junction 26.

The southbound carriageway will then close from September 11 to September 15, also from 8pm to 6am.

This will affect drivers heading from Suffolk towards London.

A diversion route will be in place along the exit slipway at Junction 26 Stanway, A1124, B1408 (London Road), rejoining the A12 at Junction 25.

When a closure was put in place on the northbound carriageway last year in JuneJuly and September drivers were met with serious delays and a decision was taken to remove the planned closure for a weekend to minimise traffic.

The recent disruption comes after the road was also closed for a weekend in August.

National Highways say the closures will help them to safely complete their work on this stretch of the road and carry out the final stages of resurfacing.
