Ed Sheeran has taken time out of his busy schedule to visit UK troops stationed in Cyprus.
Suffolk's very own superstar Sheeran was in the Mediterranean country for the final two shows of his worldwide Mathematics tour and opted to make a visit to armed forces personnel and their families at the Dhekelia garrison.
Organised by the British Forces Foundation (BFF), the singer-songwriter held an acoustic performance, took time to speak with soldiers, sign autographs and take selfies.
“For Ed to give his time and exceptional talent for four hours between two shows and very busy schedule was an extraordinary gesture that made an incredible impact - he’s the best.” said BFF director Mark Cann.
“It was an absolute privilege to host Ed and have him here spending time with the fantastic people who make up British Forces Cyprus,” added Commanding Officer 1Rifles, Lieutenant Colonel Colin Oliver.
“These men and women sacrifice a lot, and we’re hugely grateful to Ed and the British Forces Foundation team for making the time to visit British Forces Cyprus.”
One family member said: "I can’t believe it. It means a lot that someone like him would take time to come and support us."
The Suffolk superstar has kept himself busy during down time away from his world-renowned tour.
While back in the UK last month, he was in attendance at Portman Road to catch Ipswich Town's opening day defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League.
Ahead of that game, he took part in filming for a production which was aired before the start of the season on broadcast partner channel TNT sports.
He visited Kiln Farm Nursery in Kesgrave, driving a tractor decked out in the blue colours of Ipswich.
Ruth Goudy, of the farm, said: "I had to keep it a secret! We got a phone call on the Monday before."
