A 40-year-old man who was found in possession of a baseball bat in a Bury St Edmunds residential street has been fined and told to pay costs.
James Letchford, of no fixed abode, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court in Ipswich in August.
He was charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place after he was stopped with a baseball bat in Barwick Avenue in Bury on May 25.
The defendant was also charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence on the same date.
Letchford admitted both offences when he appeared before magistrates.
He was handed a fine of £200 and told to pay £100 in compensation for the charge of intending to cause fear or violence.
Letchford was also told to pay the Crown Prosecution Service's costs of £85 and a surcharge of £114.
The baseball bat was forfeited and destroyed.
Letchford's guilty pleas were taken into account when he was sentenced.
