A man from Cambridgeshire has been charged following the attack of another man in a doorway in a west Suffolk town.
On Monday, officers from Suffolk police were called to reports that a man had been attacked in the doorway of a premises in High Street in Newmarket.
The victim, a man in his 50s, suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Daniel Mitson, of Chandlers Court in Burwell, was subsequently arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
The 30-year-old was taken to Bury St Edmunds police investigation centre.
He has been charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm, possession of a knife in a public place and criminal damage to police handcuffs.
Mitson appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court on Wednesday morning, where he was remanded in custody pending his next hearing at Ipswich Crown Court on October 16.
