A mid Suffolk man who admitted he was drink driving while behind the wheel of a van has been told to pay out more than £1,000 and handed a 22-month disqualification from the roads.
Elijah Ford, 24, of Mendlesham Road in Cotton, near Stowmarket, pleaded guilty to the offence, which took place at Stowmarket on the A14, when he appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court in Ipswich.
Police found he was almost twice the drink-driving limit while he was behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Movano van, a court listing said.
Ford was fined £812 for the offence and disqualified from driving for 22 months.
He can reduce the disqualification period by 22 weeks if he successfully completes a safety course.
On top of the fine and driving ban, costs of £85 were demanded by the Crown Prosecution Service and a surcharge of £325 was ordered.
Ford's guilty plea was taken into account when he was sentenced by magistrates at the court.
