A woman from Mildenhall has been ordered to pay over £2,000 for the way she treated dogs in her care.
The case of Kelly Rose of MacPherson Robertson Way in the west Suffolk town was heard before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich.
Rose, 46, had indicated a guilty plea to causing the unnecessary suffering of a protected animal, namely a Pomeranian dog called Milo.
According to court documents, on October 6, 2022, she failed to seek veterinary attention for Milo following an attack on him by another dog in Rose’s care.
For this offence, Rose was fined £350.
She had also pleaded guilty to carrying on an activity without the authority of a section 13 licence.
The court heard that Kelly had bred three litters of puppies within a 12-month period, again relating to 2022.
For this, she was fined £600. Rose was also ordered to pay a surcharge towards victim services of £380, and court costs of £1,000.
This brings the amount Rose will have to pay to £2,330.
Rose had also pleaded not guilty to an offence of failing in her duties as the person responsible for an animal in ensuring the animal’s welfare, again relating to the Pomeranian called Milo.
However, this offence was withdrawn as it was deemed not to be in the public interest to pursue a trial.
