A man from a west Suffolk town has been ordered by magistrates to pay out a sum of more than £350 for the assault of a police officer.
Kevin Tant, 40, of Northumberland Avenue in Bury St Edmunds, was brought to Suffolk Magistrates' Court in Ipswich having been charged with the common assault of a police officer.
He pleaded guilty to an offence that took place on June 8, where he had assaulted an on-duty male police officer, a court listing confirmed.
The magistrates took his guilty plea into account and gave him a fine of £200.
He was also asked to pay £80 for the costs of the Crown Prosecution Services and a surcharge of £80 - taking the total he was instructed by magistrates to pay out to £365.
A court listing said the offence was aggravated as the assault was against a police officer.
The defendant will pay the sum charged to him in £20 instalments every month.
