Drivers are being warned to expect delays today while an abnormal load is escorted through the county.
A 164-tonne transformer is being transported from Ipswich Docks to the Synchronous Condenser Plant in Yaxley, a village near the border with Norfolk.
The transformer is expected to depart Ipswich at around 6am and the A140 through mid Suffolk will be closed temporarily whole the load is moved to its destination.
The closure between the A14 and the A1120 could be in place for several hours with teams from Suffolk Highways leading and following the vehicle to prepare the route.

Access to smaller vehicles will be allowed to cross the main road from east to west and vice versa but this will depend on where the abnormal load is at the time.
Other restrictions will also be in place for the abnormal load movement.
Suffolk police will manage a rolling roadblock between junction 53 and junction 51 on the A14.
Derby Road, Tomline Road and the St Matthew's Street subway in Ipswich will also be closed.
