An empty unit at a Suffolk retail park could become a 24-hour gym if plans before a council are given the go-ahead.
Pure Gym Limited has submitted a change of use application to Babergh District Council for the change of use of Unit 1 at Shawlands Retail Park in Newton Road, Sudbury.
The former Carpetright building has been empty since the store closed in the summer.
Plans before the council would see PureGym, the UK's largest gym group with almost 400 sites, open 24-hours, seven days a week, at the site.
The nearest existing PureGym sites are currently in Colchester and Haverhill.
A statement before Babergh District Council said: "Each site typically provides up to 15 full and part-time jobs including management roles, personal trainers, gym instructors and cleaners."
The plans state it is expected that the gym would comprise of a main gym area, studio, free weights area, spin area and functional zone.
There would also be changing facilities and showers provided, together with separate staff areas.
The plans are with Babergh District Council pending consideration.
