A care provider has unveiled proposals to transform a vacant Sudbury building into a care home with 70 bedrooms.
Aria Care presented their plans for the Gregory Mills building in Gregory Street at a public consultation event on Monday, December 2, at Gainsborough's House.
The company hopes to submit the plans early next year.
According to the provider's website the planned Gregory Mills Care Home would help "address local environmental and social needs while offering essential nursing and dementia care."
It also states the facility would have 70 bedrooms, wetroom facilities, a specially designed dementia floor, a sensory garden, and 24/7 care with nursing available.
An Aria Care spokesperson said: "The public consultation event was extremely productive and positive, with over 65 people in attendance, including district and town councillors and community groups."
They said residents had the opportunity to ask questions and speak with members of the project team, as well as provide feedback on the plans.
They continued: "Overall, the public were supportive of the proposals and found the event very informative and useful.
"It was clear that there is support for the sympathetic designs, and general agreement that there is a need for a high-quality care home within Sudbury.
"There was a chorus of approval for the proposed community garden and amenity space, and visitors were glad of proposed changes to the vacant brownfield site."
They said the project team will now review the comments and seek to submit proposals early next year.
"We will continue to engage with stakeholder groups throughout the process. For further information on the proposals, please visit the project website where all the material displayed at the event has been made available online at www.gmcarehome.com," they added.
They thanked Gainsborough's House for hosting the event.
Aria Care has 68 homes across the country including ones in Braintree and Norwich.
