Following a flurry of national awards, regional law firm Birketts has again ranked highly in the Legal 500, with several individuals and practice areas recognised.
The legal directory ranks Birketts as one of the strongest law firms in the region, with the breadth of its property and corporate deals continuing to impress, as well as the diversity of its litigation and private client advisory work.
It lists Birketts as a top-tier firm in 34 practice areas, and the firm has been recommended in a further 14 practice areas. Furthermore, 48 lawyers are listed as elite leading individuals, 16 lawyers are highlighted as next generation lawyers, and 35 lawyers are regarded as rising stars.
A total of 142 lawyers are mentioned by name in Legal 500 UK commentary for their standout contribution to respective practices.
The firm was proud to receive further recognition by recently being shortlisted for three prestigious national industry awards: Law Firm of the Year: The Independents (The Lawyer Awards 2021), Independent Law Firm of the Year (British Legal Awards 2021) and Legal Team of the Year at The EG Awards 2021. This coming on the back of The Times: Best Law Firms 2021 commending Birketts for its commercial dispute resolution, commercial property, employment, inheritance and succession legal expertise.
Jonathan Agar, chief executive officer at Birketts, commented: “Industry recognition, coupled with impressive financial results, appointments across the board and team growth are markers of our desire to continue to develop a business that operates beyond the region’s boundaries, that is contemporary in both outlook and approach and is recognised as a leading law firm for client experience across the UK.”
Jonathan concluded: “We are very conscious that we have a responsibility to our communities, many of which have been most affected by the pandemic. Through a wide range of charitable initiatives and pro-bono activities, we have distributed over £275,000 to local causes across our region and beyond.”
Recruitment continues at pace, and the law firm now has over 800 staff (including 93 partners) across its five offices in Cambridge, Chelmsford, Ipswich, London and Norwich.
