Norwich City manager David Wagner felt his players 'wanted it more' in this afternoon's 1-0 win against Ipswich Town at Carrow Road.
Marcelino Nunez's long-range free-kick goal proved the difference as the Canaries extended their unbeaten streak in the East Anglian derby into a 16th year, boosted their grip on a Championship play-off place and put a dent in the Blues' automatic promotion hopes.
"At the end of the day my players were better," said Wagner. "I had the feeling they wanted it more, especially in the 50/50 challenges. And the workload we put in, the shift, the fighting spirit, the attitude was unbelievable. Top class to beat the league leaders and your biggest rival.
"A deserved win from my point of view, because we had the clear-cut chances. Second half, especially on the counter, we were the threat, and it took until Conor Chaplin's cutback before they had their first real big chance. To do that, especially against a team which scored so many goals in the season, was so good.
"Top, top performance. The only thing is we should have killed the game earlier. This is maybe something which we can criticise if we like to. And to be fair, I don't like to criticise anything today.
"We said this before today it's about us. Yes, it's the league leader, and yes they are offensively top class and play good football. But let's make sure it's about us and how we play the game, how we approach the game. We need points as well. We have targets as well.
"This is what the players wanted to show and, to be fair, there was a big belief in this dressing room before the kick-off and a desire to bounce back after not a good performance against Leicester."
