Ipswich Town stars Kieffer Moore and Massimo Luongo admitted last night's win at Coventry City was 'a relief' - and insisted nothing will change as they stand on the brink of promotion.

The Blues' 2-1 win in the Midlands leaves them only needing a point from their final game of the season to secure back-to-back promotions and a spot in the Premier League.

They host effectively-relegated Huddersfield at Portman Road on Saturday (12.30pm) knowing a draw will take them back into the top tier for the first time since 2002.

The duo were interviewed on Sky Sports after the game last night, with Luongo asked how the side will approach the Huddersfield clash as promotion to the Premier League looms.

“I don’t know!" the Australian midfielder joked. "It’s new to a lot of us, maybe not the big man (Moore), but I think the message is always the same.

“Especially at home, we want to impose our style, front-footed, high energy.

"We’re a running team, so we need to run and as long as the performance is there I feel like we’ll be there or thereabouts at the end of the game.”

Loan striker Moore, who won promotion to the Premier League with Bournemouth in 2022 and scored last night, was then asked what his message would be to his team-mates.

"To change nothing" he insisted.  "The principles are there, the character is there, the dressing room is there – everything’s spot on.

“To change anything now would be stupid. Keep at it, keep those principles and just show great character and team-work out there.”

Of last night's win, Luongo said: “I think it’s a bit of relief now. We had to work really hard, but we’re used to that – we do it week in, week out.

“We had our backs up against it towards the end, and maybe the end of the first half, but we find those moments, we get stronger in those moments and we did really well.

“We lead from the front, try to keep pressing throughout the game and we did – and then we had to show a lot of nerve in the end.

“We’ve done it all season and I think it’s just part of our nature.”

Luongo also praised boss Kieran McKenna and his ethos of hard work and attention to detail.

“The detail is second to none, all season it’s been really good," he explained. "Even for the boys coming off the bench, we rely heavily on them, you’ve seen how many goals we’ve scored after 60 minutes.

“We’re all fit, we train really hard and we don’t have a breather during the week, don’t have many days off.

“The gaffer is a good guy, he’s a good person first and foremost. But he leaves no stone unturned – he passes every detail on to us to deliver it.”

Welsh international Moore, who's now bagged seven goals in 17 games since arriving on loan from the Cherries in January, was asked how he's found fitting into a side gunning for an unlikely second straight promotion.

“It’s been amazing," he enthused. "I already knew a good bunch of them and to come into this atmosphere and this club has been second to none.

“I’ve loved every minute of it – free-flowing, a great style of football, and I’ve really enjoyed my time here.”
