Former Ipswich Town midfielder Kevin Bru helped Mauritius win their first World Cup qualifier in more than two decades this month.

The 35-year-old played a key role for the Dodos as they beat Eswatini 2-1 in their second qualifying game for the 2026 World Cup.

Bru had scored in their opening game in Libya, losing 2-1 but assisted their second goal in their first victory in qualifying since November 2003.

He is currently without a club having left Icelandic side IBV, who are managed by former Town favourite Hermann Hreidarsson, in January.

The Paris-born player spent four years at Portman Road, making over 100 appearances after joining the club on a free transfer from Bulgarian side Levski Sofia.

Bru left the Blues back in 2018 and has since played in Cyprus, Romania and France, with him looking to find a club in the latter.

He said recently: "I don’t really want to move that far away from Paris," citing family projects and a move into coaching.

He is also not ruling out retiring from international football, having won 28 caps for his country, scoring three goals.
