Hibernian have ended their interest in Ipswich Town goalkeeper Cieran Slicker, but two other Scottish sides have joined Kilmarnock in the race to sign him according to the Scottish Sun.

The 21-year-old joined the Blues from Manchester City last summer, although he spent most of the season as their third-choice shot-stopper behind Vaclav Hladky and Christian Walton.

Although he didn't feature in Town's Championship campaign, he did start in the Carabao Cup against Bristol Rovers and Reading, keeping a clean sheet in the former and winning the penalty shoot-out in the latter.

Speaking to The National, he confirmed that he was keen on securing a loan move away from Portman Road for the 2024/25 campaign. The Scottish Sun initially claimed that Hibernian and Kilmarnock were both interested.

Since then, they've published a report that says Hibernian have dropped out of the race after signing Josef Bursik from Club Brugge, with Ross County and Partick Thistle now 'weighing up moves' for him.

Of the three sides reportedly chasing him, Kilmarnock and Ross County play in the Scottish Premiership, with the former currently preparing for their Europa League qualifier against Cercle Brugge. Partick Thistle, however, compete in the Scottish Championship, having missed out on promotion via the play-offs last season.

The article adds that Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna is keen for Slicker to play a full season of senior football, and that the club sees a move to Scotland as a 'good option' given that he's won 13 caps for their under-21's side.

First-choice goalkeeper Hladky is yet to sign a new deal to stay at Portman Road, while question marks remain over Walton's future too. The Blues have been linked with Brighton's Carl Rushworth and Fenerbahce's Dominik Livakovic.
