Former Ipswich Town winger Lee Martin has joined Ashford United after leaving fellow Kent side Ramsgate this summer.
The 37-year-old featured 43 times for the Rams last season as they missed out on promotion in Step 4, but was an integral part of their FA Cup run which saw them reach the second round for the first time in their history.
Martin now joins Danny Kedwell's side, who finished 11th in the Isthmian League South East in 2023/24.
His new manager said: "Don't be fooled by the age. Lee is unbelievably fit, and showed that last season. Make no mistake, Lee is a top, top player and had a lot of interest from clubs.
"Lee will be part of my coaching staff, but ultimately his coaching and vision will come while playing."
He played a century of games for Town between 2009 and 2013, having been brought to Portman Road for £1.5m from Manchester United by Roy Keane.
Martin departed the Blues to join Millwall in the summer of 2013, before spells at Northampton Town (loan), Gillingham and Exeter City in the football league.
In the summer of 2020, he dropped into non-league for the first time, joining Ebbsfleet United, before a spell at Dover Athletic.
