Sophie Peskett scored a first half hat-trick as Ipswich Town Women continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 6–0 win at Billericay Town last night.
Joe Sheehan's side opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Natasha Natasha hit the crossbar, but Peskett was on hand to convert the rebound.
Five minutes later, the winger doubled Town’s advantage when she latched onto a through ball and calmly finished into the bottom corner.
Town scored their third of the night in the 40th minute when Angela Addison bent a free-kick from just outside the box into the top left corner.
Peskett then completed her hat-trick just before half-time when the hosts failed to clear their lines and the winger slammed home to secure the match ball.
It was not until the 75th minute that Town scored their fifth of the game when Shauna Guyatt picked up the ball from outside the area and drilled a low shot into the bottom left corner.
The sixth goal came in the 82nd minute when Ella Rutherford’s free-kick was tipped onto the post by the keeper, but Megan Wearing was on hand to force the ball home from close range to round off an impressive evening.
Town remain second in the table, three points behind leaders Hashtag United, but the Blues have two games in hand.
They are back on the road this weekend as they travel Devon to face Exeter City in the first round proper of the FAWNL Cup.
