Ash Boatswain scored twice as Ipswich Town U21s came from behind three times to draw 3-3 with Everton in their second Premier League Cup group game at Needham Market last night.
The Toffees took the lead in the 12th minute when Martin Sherif took the ball around Henry Gray before slotting home.
John McGreal's side were level just after the half-hour mark when Boatswain scored his first of the game but six minutes before the break the Toffees were back in front through Jacob Beaumont-Clark.
However, Town responded almost immediately when Tudor Mendel-Idowu netted his first goal in a Town shirt since joining the Blues in the summer from Anderlecht.
The visitors took the lead again shortly before the hour mark when Sherif bagged his second, but 60 seconds later the young Blues levelled for a third time.
Mendel-Idowu was involved again as he found Boatswain in the area, with the latter netting his second of the night into the bottom corner.
Both sides pushed for a winner but the game ended level, meaning Town have two points from two games, with Everton top of group F on four.
The young Blues return to league action when they travel to Cardiff next Tuesday.
Town U21s: Gray, Babb, Lewis, Mazionis, Ayoola, Turner, Mendel-Idowu, Okunowo, Boatswain, Taylor (Morgan), Roberts (Davis).
