Ipswich Town Women progressed to the second round of FAWNL Cup with a 3-1 victory at Exeter City on Sunday.
Joe Sheehan’s side opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Ella Rutherford found the far corner. The attacker had scored twice on her Town debut as the Blues drew 2-2 with the Grecians in the league last month.
The hosts equalised just before half-time via Sarah Stacey, but Town retook the lead before the hour when Angela Addison tapped in for her fourth goal of the season.
Town wrapped the game up with four minutes remaining when Issy Fisher scored her first goal for the club. The young forward is on loan from Arsenal.
They have been drawn at home against promotion rival Hashtag United in the second round of the competition at the Martello Ground in Felixstowe. The tie will be played on Sunday 20th October.
The Blues now switch their focus back to league action as they host Watford this Sunday.
Town Women: Hartley, Barker, Williams, Wearing, Hughes, Robertson (c) (Fleming), King (O’Brien), Bryant (Thomas), Rutherford (Guyatt), Addison (Boswell), Fisher.
