Ipswich Town Women have had an unbeaten league start, so Ross Halls casts an eye at their campaign so far....
Joe Sheehan's side have won six of their opening eight games in the Southern Premier Division, drawing the other two, and racked up a total of 36 goals at an eye-watering average of 4.5 strikes a match.
Here are the key storylines from their season to date.
NEW SIGNINGS
It was a summer of change for the Blues as they signed seven new faces, a much needed recruitment drive as the club demonstrated their promotion ambitions.
Six of them were from teams in the league above, with the first being midfielder Angela Addison, who had spent the last two seasons with Charlton Athletic in the Women's Championship. Town also signed Ella Rutherford from the Addicks.
They snapped up two players from Crystal Palace - just promoted to the Women's Super League - in goalkeeper Natalia Negri and forward Shauna Guyatt.
Defender Grace Garrad and midfielder Charlotte Fleming joined from Lewes and Watford respectively, while they also brought in forward Isabella Fisher on a dual registration from Arsenal.
UNBEATEN START
It was opening day win for Sheehan's side as they cruised 3-0 at Oxford United, which was followed up with a 2-0 home win over promotion rivals Hashtag United, with those two results putting out a big early statement to the league.
That was followed by derby day delight next as they beat Norwich City 4-0 at Carrow Road in the FA WNL Cup. They have since been knocked out of this competition, but oh well!
Back in league action, they had to come from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Exeter City, thanks to Rutherford scoring a brace on her debut. The next few games were goals galore for the side as they scored five past Lewes and Plymouth and six against Billericay Town, before they were held to a goalless draw with Watford.
Last time out they netted double figures as they demolished MK Dons 13-0 at home in a relentless performance in Felixstowe.
HISTORY MAKER
Natasha Thomas is an Ipswich Town legend, a striker who has smashed multiple records for the women's team - she's the club's all-time record goalscorer, netting her 150th goal last season, and was the first player to score a league goal for the Blues at Portman Road.
She recently become the women's all-time appearance maker, beating the previous record holder, former club captain Amanda Crump, after playing her 217th game for the Blues.
And last week another accolade was added to her list as she became the first player from the women's team to win a senior international cap.
The forward was called up to play for Jamaica - she qualifies for the 'Reggae Girlz' through her father's side of the family. She came off the bench in a friendly against France, penning another chapter in her extraordinary legacy at the club.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
Every player in the squad has played their part in the unbeaten start from back to front, starting with new keeper Negri, who has impressed with her ability with ball to her feet and made some cracking saves, keeping seven clean-sheets so far.
The defence have had a solid start all round, with Maisy Barker being a threat at full-back and it's been good to see centre-back Megan Wearing back to full fitness after missing most of last season due to injuries.
In midfield, Fleming has showed her quality stepping in for Kyra Roberson in the early games as she recovered from injury, while Lucy O'Brien has played a deeper role this season but is still finding the net, with five goals to her name.
Town have some quality options in attack with Sophie Peskett being impressive once again, already scoring 12 goals in the opening 10 games! Addison and Guyatt have also been fantastic, with their goal contributions being key.
GOAL DIFFERENCE
Two seasons ago, the Blues missed out on the league title to Watford despite having the same amount of points. It went down to goals scored which was a horrible way to finish as runners-up.
But as mentioned above, Town have been scoring for fun and have only conceded three goals in the league so far, so they're making damn sure that this won't be the case this time around - as it stands they have a plus 33 goal difference!
They currently sit third in the table, two and three points behind Oxford United and Hashtag United respectively, but have two games in hand over both sides.
Could this be the year they get promoted? Well from the early stages they're showing all the signs that they have the quality and ambitions to do just that!
